Eye Contact Correction That Keeps Your Gaze on the Lens
Gaze correction that moves your eyes toward the lens while you read: after recording or live, with strong mode, calibration, a gaze coach and on-device processing.
Eye Contact AI is Cameratel's eye contact correction. While you read a script, your eyes sit slightly below the lens. Eye Contact AI gently moves your gaze toward the lens, so viewers can't tell you're reading. Small reading glances are corrected, far looks stay natural, and everything is processed on your phone.
Why eye contact correction matters
On video, the lens is your viewer's eyes. Look into it and every viewer feels spoken to; look a little below it and you seem distracted or scripted. Cameratel already places your script right under the lens, which keeps those glances small. Eye contact correction closes the last gap.
After recording: Enhance eyes (recommended)
The recommended way to use Eye Contact AI is After recording. You record a clean take as usual, then open it in the player and tap Enhance eyes. This gives the most natural result and a before-and-after view to compare, and your original take is kept, so nothing is lost if you prefer the uncorrected version.
Live correction
Live mode corrects your gaze while you record, so the take is ready the moment you stop. It's handy when you want the corrected video straight away. Enhance eyes after recording usually looks more natural, and you shouldn't use both on the same take: enhancing a take that was already corrected live can over-correct your eyes.
| Mode | When it corrects | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| After recording (recommended) | When you tap Enhance eyes in the player | The most natural result, with before and after |
| Live | While you record | A corrected file the moment you stop |
Strong correction, strength and calibration
- Strong correction also corrects wider glances, not just small reading movements. Far looks still stay natural.
- Strength sets how far your eyes are moved toward the lens.
- Calibration takes two seconds: look straight into the lens before you record, so the correction knows where the lens is for your face.
Gaze coach
Want to build the habit as well? The gaze coach shows a live dot on screen that turns red when your reading becomes visible. Use it to find the text width, text size and distance that keep your eyes calm.
Natural by design
Eye Contact AI is a correction, not magic, and that's deliberate. It works best when you read close to the lens, which is exactly where Cameratel's teleprompter sits. Very wide looks, like a glance out of the window or at someone across the room, stay natural on purpose, so you still move and think like a person.
A few habits get the best results:
- Keep the prompter column narrow, so your eyes barely move from side to side.
- Light your face evenly from the front, so your eyes are easy to find.
- Calibrate before an important recording.
- Compare before and after for every take you publish.

Processed on your phone
All face and eye processing happens on your phone. Your video is never uploaded, there's no account to create, and your takes stay on your device unless you choose to share them. See our privacy policy for details.
Frequently asked questions
Will viewers notice the correction?
The goal is that they don't. Small reading glances are corrected and far looks stay natural, and the before-and-after view lets you judge each take yourself.
Can I undo Enhance eyes?
Yes. Your original take is kept, so you can always go back to the uncorrected version.
Should I combine Live correction with Enhance eyes?
No. If a take was recorded with Live correction, enhancing it again may over-correct your eyes. Use one per take, ideally After recording.
Is my video uploaded for processing?
No. Face and eye processing happens on your phone, and your video is never uploaded.
