Voice Follow Teleprompter: A Script That Listens and Keeps Up
A teleprompter that listens: it follows the words you say, waits when you pause, catches up when you skip and dims the words you've already spoken.
Voice follow is a teleprompter that listens. As you speak, Cameratel's voice follow teleprompter tracks the words you actually say and scrolls the script to keep your current line right under the lens. Slow down, speed up, stop to think or improvise a sentence, and the script waits for you, then catches up. You never have to pick a scroll speed again.
A voice follow teleprompter that tracks your words
A fixed-speed prompter makes you talk at its pace. Voice follow turns that around: it listens through your phone's microphone, recognizes your words and matches them to your script, so the text moves when you do. That's what lets you sound like yourself while reading, instead of chasing the next line or waiting for it.
Pause, skip or improvise
Real delivery isn't word for word, and Voice follow is built for that:
- Pause for emphasis or to collect your thoughts, and the script waits.
- Skip a line you don't need, and it catches up.
- Improvise a sentence or a short story, then return to the script, and it picks up where you rejoin.
Voice paced, for looser scripts
Sometimes you'd rather paraphrase than read. Voice paced is the companion mode for that: it moves only while you're talking and pauses when you stop, without following exact words. Auto and Manual scrolling are there too:
| Scroll mode | Moves when | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Voice follow | It hears the words in your script | Reading closely, with natural pauses and asides |
| Voice paced | You're talking, whatever the words | Paraphrasing or speaking from loose notes |
| Auto | Always, at the speed you set | Fixed timings, like ads and voiceovers |
| Manual | You scroll with a finger, keyboard or remote | A helper running the prompter, or full control |
Works in many languages
Voice follow runs on your phone's built-in speech recognition, so it works in many languages. Set the speech language to match your script, and keep one language per script where you can. The app's interface comes in 23 languages, from English and Spanish to Arabic, Hindi, Japanese and Indonesian.
Always know where you are
Two prompter options pair well with Voice follow. Dim spoken words fades what you've already said, so your eyes land on the next word even after a long pause. The reading guide marks the line you're on.
Captions timed from your speech
Because Cameratel already knows your script, every take gets captions synced to your speech, generated from the script with no typing. You can export them as an .srt file or burn them into the video. The auto captions page explains how.
Tips for the most accurate tracking
- Record in a quiet room, with the TV, music and other voices switched off.
- Keep the phone within about an arm's length, and don't cover its microphone with a clamp or case.
- Choose the speech language that matches your script.
- Start each section with its exact first words, so the prompter locks on quickly.
- Write numbers and abbreviations the way you'll say them.
