A Teleprompter Camera App With Your Script Right Under the Lens

Your script scrolls right below the front camera while you record, with four scroll modes, full prompter controls, script markers, hands-free control and a take report.

Cameratel app screen: Teleprompter Camera App for iPhone and Android

Cameratel is a real video camera with a teleprompter built in right under the lens. Your script scrolls exactly where your eyes should be, just below the front camera, while you record in HD, Full HD or 4K. Read your script. Look at the lens. That's the whole idea, and everything in this teleprompter camera app is built around it.

Your script, right under the lens

Most teleprompter setups put the words somewhere near the camera. On a phone, near isn't close enough: any gap between the text and the lens shows up on video as a downward glance. In Cameratel, the script scrolls at the top of the screen, right below the front camera, so your eyes stay close to the lens from the first line to the last.

There are two camera modes. VIDEO is a clean camera for any recording. PROMPTER adds the scrolling script, so you read and record at the same time, on one phone, with no second screen and no rig.

Four ways to scroll

Scroll modeHow it works
AutoScrolls at a steady speed you set
Voice followListens and follows the words you actually say; pause, skip a line or improvise, and it waits or catches up
Voice pacedMoves only while you're talking and pauses when you stop
ManualScroll with your finger, a keyboard or a Bluetooth remote

Voice follow is where most people end up. See how it works on the Voice follow page.

Prompter controls that fit the way you read

Set the prompter up once and it stays that way:

  • Speed, text size, line spacing and width, so the column is narrow and comfortable at your distance.
  • Backdrop, text color, font and alignment, for easy reading over any background.
  • Reading guide and dim spoken words, so you always know where you are.
  • Countdown, start scrolling with recording and stop recording at the end of the script, for clean starts and endings.
  • Mirror text, for glass and beam-splitter teleprompter rigs.

Inside your script, [pause] adds a breath pause and # starts a section header. To practice, tap play (▶) on the prompter and read through without pressing record.

A scripts library that does the math

Write or paste scripts, import text, duplicate and search. Every script shows its word count and estimated duration, so you know whether your 60-second script really fits in 60 seconds. Not sure how fast to talk? Our guide to teleprompter speed and words per minute has rule-of-thumb numbers.

Hands-free control

Walking up to the phone to press record ruins your framing. Stay in your seat instead:

  • Keyboard: Space plays or pauses, the arrow keys scroll and change speed, and Enter records.
  • Volume buttons and Bluetooth remotes start and stop recording.

A teleprompter camera app that's also a real camera

  • HD, Full HD or 4K at 24, 30 or 60 fps, in H.264 or HEVC, with stabilization.
  • Vertical 9:16, horizontal 16:9, square 1:1 and 4:5.
  • Front and back lenses, tap to focus, pinch to zoom, a grid and an option to mirror front camera video.
  • Pause and resume in the middle of a take, and still get one continuous video file.
  • 14 cinematic looks graded live, beauty controls, background blur, a studio backdrop or your own photo, and a ring light that turns the screen edge into a soft light for your face.
  • Eye Contact AI and captions generated from your script, explained on the Eye Contact AI and auto captions pages.

A take report after every recording

When you stop, you see the take's duration, your speaking pace in words per minute, an eye-contact score and how much of the script you covered. It's the quickest way to compare takes and watch your progress over time.

Start in three steps

  1. Open Scripts and write or paste your script.
  2. Switch to PROMPTER and choose a scroll mode. Voice follow is a good place to start.
  3. Tap play for one practice run without recording, then record.

Cameratel runs on iPhone (iOS 15 or later) and Android phones (Android 8.0 or later), with the interface in 23 languages. There's no account to create, and your videos and scripts stay on your phone. New to prompters? Start with our guide on how to use a teleprompter app.
